The four steps

Before you start: this guide covers the detector-side mount. If you're also bonding the windscreen receiver to the glass, follow the receiver install guide for the prep steps - adhesive failures caused by improper preparation are not covered under warranty.

  1. 01

    Unbox

    Check what's in the kit

Everything you need is in the box - no extra tools.

    • Your RAD MAG detector mount ships with a QR code linking back to this guide.
    • Check you have the mount body and the screw that fits your detector's existing thread.
    • Watch the video above once before you start - the whole job takes about a minute.
  2. 02

    Remove

Take off the factory suction cup

The RAD MAG replaces the original arm completely.

    • Detach your detector from its factory suction-cup mount.
    • Undo the screw at the detector's mounting point and set the original arm aside - you won't be using it again.
  3. 03

    Fit

    Attach the RAD MAG mount

It uses your detector's existing mounting point and screw.

    • Line the mount up with the detector's thread and screw it down firmly - snug, not forced.
    • Check it sits flat against the detector body with no rocking.

Check the orientation before you tighten. The lip faces toward the driver, and the RJ11 cable exit hole points toward the detector's power port. A reversed arm still snaps on, but the cable won't reach the connector.

  4. 04

    Snap in

    Clip onto the windscreen receiver

This is the part you'll do every day - in and out in under a second.

    • Slide the detector arm down onto the receiver on your windscreen. It lands on the magnets and locks with a positive click.
    • To remove, tilt the front of the detector up to release the lip, then twist and pull it off the magnet.
    Do not skip
Just bonded the receiver? Wait 36 hours first

If the windscreen receiver has only just gone on the glass, leave it undisturbed for 36 hours before you clip the detector onto it - 72 hours for the Escort Redline 360C. 3M VHB keeps building strength after it goes on and only reaches full bond at 72 hours. Load it early and the tape peels off the glass under the leverage of the detector arm.

Adhesive failures caused by skipped preparation or an early load are not covered under warranty. Full glass-prep steps · Warranty terms
